Project Grand Slam’s 2017 release – The PGS Experience, features two singles with guest saxophonist, Mindi Abair, and the current one out now is the ferocious instrumental track called “Metro Shuffle,” which Robert Miller and his band can be as proud of as any band are artist can be. Also included as one of Miller’s musical signatures is to take Classic Rock songs such as Jimi Hendrix’s “Fire,” The Kinks’ “You Really Got Me,” and Cream’s “I’m So Glad” to name some of the other tracks the EP contains along with the creative jazz rock originals included on the extensive EP release.

There’s so much to praise about this band concerning their past and current work, it’s staggering to even comprehend how good they are in a sea of bands who don’t make half the efforts to come our as smooth and entertaining as Project Grand Slam have been doing. If you haven’t been aware of them, “Metro Shuffle” is a great place to catch up and go from there by sinking the ears into – The PGS Experience EP with 9 smoking tracks. This isn’t some average Jazz Rock combo, in-fact they are quite the opposite entity, having shared the stage with such artists as Boney James, YES, Mindi Abair, Blues Traveler and Scott Weiland.

Mindi Abair also appears on the single “Metro Shuffle” and another track on the EP, and she is a two-time Grammy nominee with an impressive background who brings the best out in this truly rocking single that swings and fits in with the best around in the last few decades of instrumental jazz fusion. But the EP from which it comes, has a lot of other aspects that equally cover different genres with female vocals. It wins on both levels that way, with a blend that just works for the masses. The hot sax and guitar fills on “Metro Shuffle” are some of the most incendiary flurries this side of hardcore jazz.

With Abair at the table there is no going wrong, as she brings more to it than most can muster. This is a superior saxophonist who pulls no proverbial punches on anything she touches, and an artist worth looking more into herself. Robert Miller knows how to fuse all the right people and music together, for which he is credited as the sole creator as Project Grand Slam. But he doesn’t just lead this band, he evenly presents every player in their own separate light. That’s what fusion is really all about and he even surpasses the bar with flying colors on the EP and “Metro Shuffle” featuring Mindi Abair.

Also look for the other single, “Fishin’” which includes Mindi Abair as well, and the rest of the collective set on The PGS Experience. These are all compelling works that stack up evenly on what is an outstanding long- awaited release by a band that might need no introduction to their fan base but can use all the exposure beyond it they can get. This is something worth making every effort to do, once you hear the heat on this single, and follow it to more once you hear the aforementioned-covers and other originals they’ve recorded.
