Interview with Entrepreneur/Business Coach Jill Valdez

Hi Jill! Thanks for being here!!

What have you been busy working on?  

I have been busy working on quite a few things. Personally, I am working on preparing for my first winter in Portland. I have no idea what to expect but I’m excited about Christmas that isn’t 80 degrees! Professionally, I have been spending time finessing my marketing pieces as organizations are ready to make progress on their vision again.

What has been the greatest achievement of your journey thus far? 

Staying on the journey! Like everyone, these last few months have been difficult! Dreams and plans for 2020 are long forgotten! I suffered a personal tragedy this summer, on top of everything else. But I have not given up!! I refuse to settle for letting life be what it is. It’s important to dream about what can be and keep putting one foot in front of the other in order to get to the destination.

How do you encourage your clients to stay on the course of their passions? 

We talk about the significance of their passions – not only what it will mean to live a life on purpose but also what it would mean if they were not living a life on purpose. We look at what they have accomplished and we talk about the next steps. And we talk about rewards along the way, besides simply accomplishing a goal.

Favorite hobby? 

Depends on my mood – I love to crochet and I love to read; I love to go fishing and I love to go hiking (but NOT camping!!).  

If you could grab coffee with anyone, living or not, who would it be and why? 

I would have coffee with my mom. She died when I was 15, and I just wish I could sit down with her now as an adult and talk!

Do you have any vices? 

Chocolate and Mario Kart Double Dash
