Actor Linda Collins Continues Her Rise to New Heights

They say that if you want something done, give it to a busy person. Linda Collins just happens to be one of the busiest, working actors. The award-winning actress from the drama, Perception, Collins continues to sculpt a varied, and interesting career that spans film, TV and online streaming. She’s also an accomplished musician and had added executive producer to her growing professional resume. Just as she forges ahead with her art and career, she continues to hone her craft New York City’s premier acting school, T. Schreiber Studio.

Written and directed by Andres Irias, Perception tells the story of immigrants from two points-of-view: a Honduran mother who is pressured to migrate, and an American teen from a white supremacist family who is taught to hate immigrants. Collins, who also served as executive producer, took home the Award for Best Supporting Actress at the Omaha Latino Festival for her role as Lauren/the wife of the white family. Collins also accepted the film’s award for Best International Film at the Brightside Traven Shorts Film Festival in March (2021). Her costars in the film include Julia Carias and Octavius Prince.

Collins, who was born in St. Louis, Missouri to Olivia (a pianist, vocalist and Sacred Music Director) and Gaylon (a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force and Production Manager at McDonald-Douglas Aircraft), moved with her siblings to Tuscaloosa, Alabama when she was young. Collins would go on to garner scholarships to University of Alabama, Duquesne University (bachelor’s of music, Summa Cum Laude) and Northern Illinois University (master’s degree in music). After several years of performing as a professional musician in the United States and Canada (Collins performed principal horn with the Winnipeg Symphony, Naples Philharmonic and Huntsville Symphony Orchestra. Her musical theatre / orchestra performances include Showboat with Robert Morse and Elaine Stritch, and the Toronto staging of The Phantom of The Opera), Collins moved to New York City and in 2010 devoted her time and passion to acting.

In Three For the Road, Collins is Liz, one of the three principle characters that meet up for a  spiritual journey after befriending each other in a yoga class. Three For the Road is directed by David Patrick Wilson, an actor also known for his work in Eddie and The Cruisers (1983) and The Bronx Zoo (1987 – 1988), among many others.

In the Zoom comedy series, CUZZINS, Collins takes on the comedy world in her role as Nancy Decker.  The streaming show centers on three cousins, living in a three-family house in Brooklyn having an ‘extremely diverse family’. Collins co-stars for the show include Diezel Ramos, Joyce Porter and Alicia Kaplan.

Other projects to highlight are the feature films Dying to Love You, a horror film currently filming. Collins plays the role of Pearl Willoughby in the Dean Ciallella written/directed film. She’s also working on the film, The Stable. The western/drama also stars Jamar Edmundson and Anthony Ferro. Busy or not, it’s clear that Collins continues to challenge herself in ways that most actors dream of.
