Exclusive Interview with “Guitar and Whiskey Club”
How would you classify your music?
A mixture of 70’s, 80’s and 90’s rock with a hard edge.
Who are some of your top 5 musical influences?
Led Zeppelin, UFO, Black Sabbath, Heart and Judas Priest.
What do you want fans to take away from your music?
A very high energy rock experience with meaningful lyrics that speak to everyone. Every member of The Guitar & Whiskey Club joined the band with the goals of working hard to put on the best show they possibly could – and we are determined that the audience has as much fun as we do!
How is the music scene in your locale?
We have a very vibrant music scene here in Ventura County. Also, being right next door to Hollywood, the greatest music scene in the world, we are delighted to be in the locale we are at.
What is the best concert you have been to?
I could never pick just one.
What do you like most about playing LIVE?
The energy the crowd exudes acts as a constant feedback loop, pushing GWC to the limit at every show. I love that.
Is there a track on your latest CD release that stands out as your personal favorite & why?
Yes. ‘Flies Like Whiskey’ as it was the first song we recorded and is based on a personal experience that I still remember in detail to this day. It refers to the duality of the word ‘flies’ – the flies that land in a bar and those that land on your glass.
How have you evolved as a band over the last year?
GWC is constantly evolving and, over the past year, has been spending more time connecting with and enjoying our fans and their excitement. We enjoyed this both on and off stage…from our guitar duals to the selfies.
If you could meet, play a gig, co-write a song, have dinner, have a drink with any band or artist (dead or alive) who would it be?
Michael Schenker as he has had the most influence on my guitar playing than any other person on the planet. Having a drink with Schenker while penciling lyrics on a bar napkin….then having the opportunity to record and perform live with him would be amazing. The process I am familiar with, but being able to collaborate with Schenker is one that I (hopefully) have in my future.
What’s next for you?
We have been so busy that we look forward to having the time to complete the recording of our CD. Of course, GWC also has great gigs coming up that we are looking forward to. Check them out at www.GuitarAndWhiskeyClub.com.
