Exclusive Interview with Nelson Gomez

Where do you want to take your career in the next year?

In the next year, I want to take my career to a point where I’m more than able to develop docu – series focused on the importance of traveling, cultural knowledge, and environmental conservation. On the other hand I’m looking forward to applying my Direction of Photography expertise in the Film Industry.

How will your new work differ from your previous catalogue? 

My new work will differ from a previous catalogue due to the expansion of the possibilities that the States provides for us filmmakers. Hundreds of stories just waiting to be told everyday will without a doubt bring a big difference from whoever comes from a small, yet beautiful island like me.

Who makes you work harder on a day to day basis? 

Those who make me work harder on my day to day basis are with no doubt my family, they push me forward and remind me everyday the reason I’m here.

What are challenges you are looking forward to overcoming in this new year? 

Some challenges I’m looking forward to overcoming in this new year are the expansion of my network and the ability to travel to all the States. Recently I moved to New York, which means those who I know in the Industry are very little, therefore expanding my circle of friends and colleges will with no dough give me the opportunity to show my abilities as a filmmaker. Having time to travel all the States will definitely open some doors to new stories to tell, and with some support are far from limited.

Can you tell us the growth you’ve noticed within yourself that translated to your art?

The growth I’ve noticed within myself that has been translated to my art is that throughout the years I’ve become much more aware of the value that comes within listening, listening to people’s story, really taking it all in.Once you understand someone else’s point of view of the world, it is then that storytelling becomes second nature.
